"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heav'nly host, praising God, and saying: 'Glory to God in the highest!'"

Thanks!

Your signature line says "There's a baby in my fridge" - is that like "a bun in the oven" ?

Well, it MAY be you, or it could be that since we're looking towards the sun and the spheres are in the foreground, reflections of the sun would only be seen if the camera was looking at them from the opposite point of view...

but given the pattern of spheres, and the fact that they're spherical, i should see the sun reflected in one of the balls that's reflecting another one. is it actually using ray tracing? if so, how many levels?

Hmmm... you could be right. Yes, ray tracing in Vue. I honestly don't know how many levels I set. Now you have me wanting to play with the position of the spheres until I DO get a sun reflection!!!

Finally, a picture showing angels not as human-like beings, but as their pure entities.

Yes. I like the description of angels in Phillip Pullman's The Golden Compass as "vast architectures of pure thought". Something of that here.
